Academic Opportunities for Undergraduates
Undergraduates can go beyond the boundaries and find information here on many academic opportunities available, including Study Abroad, Service Learning, Residential Academic Programs, Honors, the Miramontes Arts and Sciences Program, and others. Many residence halls are home to residential academic programs, where students live and take classes in their hall to meet core curriculum or course requirements, combining an academic program with a residential experience. Each of the RAPs has its own identity, attracting students interested in specific kinds of living and learning environments.
UROP provides undergraduate students funding to do research or creative work. There are no restrictions regarding the type of projects, but high-quality, professional level work is expected. Information on who qualifies, and application deadlines, can be found here.
The Honors Program offers a wide array of courses that provide eligible students with an exciting academic environment, and also facilitates a student’s graduation with honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude).
The Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program is an academic excellence program designed to assist under-represented scholars of color in their successful matriculation and retention in the College, emphasizing studies leading to the BA degree.
This program offers a range of educational benefits and financial incentives for outstanding students.
The Office of International Education offers study abroad programs at over 120 sites around the globe, on every continent except Antarctica.
Summer session students can choose from more than 500 courses, allowing progress toward a degree in almost every area of study.
A variety of credit and non-credit courses, workshops, and seminars is offered.
